In 2022 I was asked by Ian and Zac Dean-Duty of Greyhound Group to design a permanent piece for a special project being developed just north of downtown here in Oklahoma City. The goal with all of Greyhound Group’s projects is to give back to the community in a small way by incorporating art. Thereby beautifying what was once blighted, ugly or ignored before.
The 100 year old warehouse at 12 NW 13th Street would be home to an array of unique tenants. It’s location near Automobile Alley inspired the idea of nature and machine and how something magical and mythical can be created from the two: the Pegasus. Thus born “The Mechanics of Dreams”. A figurative analogy of the magic in dreams and a literal one for the development.
The final project was realized through the partnership of Tracey and Rick Bewley at Art Fusion Studios who painstakingly cut and fired over 800 pieces of the fused glass tiles, each numbered and cataloged.
